Daredevil is Here, and We Have the Reviews

The first season of Marvel’s Daredevil, the newest Netflix Original Series, is finally available for your viewing pleasure.

But is it any good?

Fans of Marvel Comics and superhero movies were almost universally disappointed with by the 2003 Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck, so this new television series had an uphill battle to convince viewers to give them a shot. But from all accounts, they got the job done.

The unforgiving Rotten Tomatoes gives Daredevil an impressive 95% fresh rating.

CNN says, “Charlie Cox is perfectly cast as blind attorney Matt Murdock”.

rogerebert.com calls it a “striking, adult take on ‘Daredevil'”, and “an intelligent, well-crafted drama series that may be a little thin on actual action…but contains the nuance and character that has been missing from most of those blockbusters.”

And A.V. Club says, “fans of the comics should appreciate the clear intent here to make a superhero series that doesn’t deviate too much from the source, or pull too many punches.” They praise its “appropriately dark and grubby look,” but note that the series is more geared toward binge watching than a classic television format. No complaints here!

The bottom line is that a vast majority of critics and viewers are signing Daredevil’s praise, and it’s looking like Netflix has yet another exclusive hit series on their hands.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have 13 hour-long episodes that aren’t going to watch themselves.

If you’re watching it, let me know what you think in the comments!

OMG! Charlie Cox is born to be Matt Murdock. The acting is flawless and most of all, he is so good looking. I”m a big fan here!

All casts are perfect! They are so good on their respective roles. I can’t wait Season 2 or is there any more new season/s coming? It is worth to wait but waiting is the hardest part

    A definite must watch!

I’m watching Episode 4 now and I love it. Charlie Cox is awesome, Rosario Dawson and Vincent D’Onofrio are the perfect NYC character actors for this series. Both of them are excellent actors and it’s good to see them on the screen again, especially Vincent.

The darkness and shadows that come through the cinematography nicely capture the dark nature of what Matt Murdock does and also reflect his what his blindness is like.

Thanks, SoonerArrow, you captured my own feelings about the show perfectly.

After a few episodes (those “jobs” really put a crimp in my binging style), I can say I really appreciate the visual style, casting, writing… This is a human show first, action hero second.
