Is Star Wars on Netflix?

darth-vader-face

After riding waves of relief and excitement over the second trailer for Star War Episode VII: The Force Awakens, legions of Star Wars fans may be scouring Netflix for the series’ first six films. While the streaming service does offer all of the Star Trek series and numerous Trek films, there are no live-action Star Wars films currently available for instant viewing. Amazon Prime offers these films through their proprietary streaming service, however.

Netflix also hosts Star Wars: The Clone Wars, an acclaimed animated series that made its debut in 2008 on Cartoon Network. Its sixth and final season premiered on Netflix in 2014, opening the gateway for the entire series to be uploaded and available. This action-packed show follows a young Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the height of the infamous Clone Wars, and even includes one-shot episodes with clone commandos or Sith plots.

Better yet, there was a recent announcement by Netflix that cemented future negotiations between the Star Wars franchise and the streaming service’s own production wing. There has been no official announcement about these original content series, but we’ll hold our breaths in anticipation.

In the meantime, check out The Force Awakens and prepare to ride the hype train:
